Life-Saving Rules

Safety is not optional - it’s our commitment to protect each other, our clients, and our communities.These 9 rules are non-negotiable. They exist to protect life. Every person, every shift, every site — no exceptions.

If you can’t do it safely, don’t do it.

Observe Safety Controls

Never override safety equipment or systems without permission.

I understand how to use the safety-critical controls for my task.
I never bypass or disable safety systems unless authorised.
I do not cross barriers or override procedures without approval.

Confined Space Entry

Always be authorised — and fully prepared — before entering.

I confirm all energy sources are isolated.
I check the atmosphere has been tested and is being monitored.
I use breathing apparatus if required.
I confirm a standby attendant is present and a rescue plan is ready.
I obtain authorisation before entering.

Driving

Drive responsibly — for yourself, your passengers, and the public.

I never use a phone or device while driving.
I only drive when fit, alert, and well rested.
I follow all journey management plans.
I stay within speed limits and adjust for conditions.
I wear my seatbelt at all times.

Energy Isolation

No work begins until sources are isolated and confirmed safe.

I identify all energy sources.
I ensure they are locked, tagged, and isolated.
I test for zero energy, including any residual or stored sources.

Hot Work

Control ignition sources and confirm the area is safe.

I identify ignition risks and control them.
I remove or isolate flammable materials before work begins.
I get authorisation before starting hot work.
I confirm gas testing is complete and monitoring is in place in hazardous areas.

Line of Fire

Stay clear of danger zones — and keep others safe too.

I position myself away from moving equipment, pressure releases, or falling objects.
I establish and obey exclusion zones.
I secure loose objects in my area and report anything that could become a hazard

Safe Lifting

Lifting requires planning, control, and precision.

I confirm the equipment and load are inspected and suitable.
I only operate lifting equipment I’m trained and authorised to use.
I establish and respect barriers and exclusion zones.
I never walk or stand under a suspended load.
I assess manual lifts before starting and ask for help or equipment when needed

Work Authorisation

No permit? No work.

I confirm if a permit is needed for my task.
I read and understand the permit before starting.
I make sure the job is safe to begin.
I stop and reassess if conditions change.

Working at Height

Protect yourself from falling — or causing others to fall.

I inspect and use fall protection equipment correctly.
I secure tools and materials to prevent dropped objects.
I tie off 100% while outside protected areas.

If you can’t do it safely, don’t do it.
