Objective

The primary objective was to deliver a full-scope installation and completion package for the Goldwind 6MW turbines on the GWA mine site. This included mechanical and electrical installation activities, completion works, and expanded scope elements such as blade repairs, ensuring the project progressed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Challenges

Project delivery was influenced by the extreme remoteness of the site, which posed logistical and resource-planning challenges and required a highly self-sufficient operational setup. Working on a live mining site also meant adhering to stringent safety expectations far exceeding typical wind-industry standards. Additionally, extreme environmental conditions—regularly exceeding 50°C inside the towers—required careful management of working hours, heat-stress protocols, and task sequencing. The deployment of Australia’s first Goldwind 6MW platform also introduced new technical considerations, requiring rapid adaptation and close collaboration with the OEM.

Value to Client

Client impressed with the level of skilled resources Aurora ARC provided to site. Client was very happy with quality of works, supervision level and how well the team worked on site. Remaining 4 projects expected to go well.
