Doug Duguid

Chief Executive Officer

Doug has over 35 years’ experience. With a mechanical engineering background, he has held various roles within several multi-national service companies. Doug was one of the founders of EnerMech, an international multidisciplinary services business providing maintenance and commissioning services to the energy industry.

Significant organic growth and new service line offerings grew the business to £415m revenue with around 4,000 employees, in 42 bases, across 23 countries. Prior to that, Doug spent 6 years at PSL Energy Services where he led Its growth from a £20m revenue UK business to £110m revenue, with 1,200 employees.

Before he went to PSL, Doug spent 10 years at KBR Production Services where he led EAME to £200m revenue per annum.

Michael Buchan

Chief Financial Officer

Michael was one of the original founders of EnerMech along with Doug. Prior to EnerMech, Michael was also part of the MBO team that acquired PSL Energy Services in 2003 where he was Finance Director - until the sale of PSL to Halliburton in 2007.

Michael has over 25 years’ experience in the offshore oil and gas industry holding various financial roles within several multi-national service companies.

Michael also brings with him significant overseas experience, having lived and worked for a number of years in Singapore, the Middle East and Canada. Michael is a qualified Chartered Accountant and trained with KPMG.

Tom Smith

Chief Operating Officer

Tom has over 16 years’ experience in the energy sector and is an internationally experienced manager.

He holds an MBA and has a with successful track record working in senior leadership positions. As the former General Manager of the Mergers & Acquisitions office at the marine energy and infrastructure specialist Acteon Group, Tom brings with him, proven experience in improving operational performance of energy services businesses through transformation, acquisitions, business development initiatives and organisational strategy.

Clare Hailes

HR Director

Clare has over twelve years’ experience in HR in the energy sector, she is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Aurora’s HR function and is passionate about making our organization a great place for people to work.

As a strong believer in empowering people, she works hard to identify opportunities for, and development of, greater skills in the people around her.

Clare graduated from the University of Stirling with an Honours Degree in Management and went on to become CIPD qualified.

Alan Bailey

Engineering, Fabrication and Construction

Alan brings 32 years of experience in managerial, operational and technical roles, specialising in multi services management, and with a focus on diversifying businesses in the energy transition. Alan was also part of the EnerMech team in a number of roles before becoming UK base manager.

Alan then grew his credentials abroad, working as Country Manager in Angola before moving to Australia and then Mozambique to deliver mechanical services in LNG plant construction and commissioning.

Alan started his career in 1988 working in the offshore drilling sector, having trained in fabrication, diesels, hydraulics and instrumentation.

Carolina Orden

Business Development

Carolina is an experienced Business Development Manager with more than 17 years in the energy sector. She also worked in marketing and sales, both in the UK and overseas, for over 15 years.

Carolina's strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills are backed by a University Degree in Economic Science as well as her expertise in operations, strategic planning & company development.

David Duguid

Operations

David is a Mechanical Engineer, who initially undertook process scopes across new Oil and Gas construction and brownfield projects across Australia and latterly the UKCS.

He transitioned to the offshore wind industry in 2014, initially working on cable route preparation, followed by project management and offshore execution assisting with Foundation Installation for Offshore Wind and Oil & Gas across Europe and the Middle East.

David returned to the Highlands in 2019 to help build the Renewables Service and Training Capability within Aurora.

Fiona Duguid

Commercial & IT

Fiona graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. She worked in the power generation sector and after that moved into Oil and Gas with Landmark Graphics and Halliburton, and there she grew her expertise in the IT arena, developing and implementing technical software for a wide range of clients.

With over 15+ years experience working in Europe, Latin America and Houston in a variety of roles, Fiona is excited about utilising her skills within Aurora.

Andrew Johnston

Special Access Systems Director

Andrew is one of only 120 IRATA Assessors worldwide and was formerly the IRATA Chairman for the North Sea Region. He founded Inverness Access and Training Services (IATS) to deliver IRATA operations and training in the Highlands area.

Andrew received his level3 instructor status in 2005 and moved to Southeast Asia in 2006 to help develop IRATA operations and training centres, eventually joining NOV in Singapore and managing 300 plus rope access and project personnel. Andrew is a time served Welder and Plater having learnt his trade at Brown & Root Ardersier.

IATS joined the Aurora group in 2022 and Andrew is a powerful addition to the team.

Martin Macphee

Technical Director

Martin joined Aurora in 2022 bringing with him his immense experience with products from all the major Wind Turbine OEMs as well as holding a wide range of Wind Industry specific, competency qualifications.

He began his career in Aerospace, undertaking a 3-year dual trade apprenticeship with the RAF. Martin came to the Onshore Wind industry early, starting in 2004 as Construction Commissioning Multi Site Manager with Siemens Wind and then progressed to Senior Engineer with RWE in 2009.

This was followed by his role as Operations manager for Eneco, Martin then progressed to undertaking large site manager scopes in the UK, Norway and Taiwan.

Alan Mclean

Contracts & Commercial

Alan has over 44 years’ experience within the energy and oil and gas industry. He joined R&M Engineering in 1989 and steadily progressed through the company from works supervisor to Director level.

Alan has vast experience in fabrication, tendering and estimating including business development. He completed his apprenticeship in fabrication and pipefitting with Speyside Engineering.

Alan has excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.

Sinead McIntosh

Chief Executive Officer

Sinead studied International Business before travelling to Western Australia to work in marketing within personnel management.
‍
During her career she has developed extensive marketing experience, this has been reinforced by working in a variety of sectors which has given her many complementary skills, such as marketing analytics and M&A integration.

Sinead has a proven track record in delivering successful and effective marketing strategies and campaigns.
