Aurora supported our client as Owner's Engineer during the FEED (Front End Engineering Design) phase of the LP Compression Project. The project was developed to increase gas recovery by reducing well backpressure through the introduction of additional low-pressure compression capacity. The proposed design also enabled flexible routing of separator gas between the LP and MP compression systems to optimise plant operations. Our goal was to increase gas recovery from the Field by reducing well backpressure through the implementation of additional low-pressure compression capacity, while optimising operational flexibility between the LP and MP compression systems.

The project required evaluation of multiple compression concepts, including hybrid and direct LP compression configurations, to balance production benefits, project complexity, and cost considerations while ensuring robust engineering assurance throughout the FEED phase.

Aurora's assurance activities provided our client with a robust engineering basis for confident project decision-making. Following FEED, they selected a simplified direct LP compression solution over the hybrid configuration, successfully balancing cost, complexity, and production benefits. Aurora's technical oversight and multidisciplinary support helped de-risk the project and support informed investment decisions.
